Mini Vacate with Mom

For years my parents have kept their camper in West Branch during the summer. They travel back and forth to Flint, but spend the majority of their time at their place in West Branch, this weekend I went too. My father couldn't make it, so it was just mom and me...oh, and Harley. It was a very relaxing weekend. Mom and I went into town and went to garage sales and some shops and then we came back to the camper and played lots of board games. Harley had fun as well. She went on lots of walks, played ball and scared away the deer. We even went through the trails in the woods and I let her run leash free. She had a ball and completely wore herself out.

We really enjoyed spending time with mom, we don't get to do it very often.

This is the view from the trails

This one is the trail itself

Now, here's one of mom sitting outside her camper reading her new bird book.

Love you mom and thanks for the fun!!!

Health Update

Jimmy and I met yesterday with the gastroenterologist to discuss all the results of his tests and what he needs to do to stay healthy. Well, the diagnosis is good. He has Crohn's, Colitis and irritable bowl syndrome, all of which can cause serious damage if he dos not take care of himself. The physician said that everything is in the early stages, which we were extremely happy about. The biggest thing he needs to do is take medication four times daily, eat a high fiber diet, and take a fiber supplement every day. It is all just a matter of getting it under control and trying to stay regular so there is no strain on his colon. We were also told that there may be times of flare up and when symptoms arise we just need to see the doctor as soon as possible and they can work to get it under control.

Back to the Books

Charge the laptop battery, renew the library card, and sharpen the pencils because I am going back to school. Today I received my acceptance to graduate school. Come this fall I will be working toward a masters degree in public administration at the Horace H. Rackman School of Graduate Studies through the University of Michigan. It is going to be a busy few years, but I have a wonderful support system to help me through.

Fun and the Lake!

Yesterday, we went to our friends Mark and Shawn's place for a BBQ and some outdoor entertainment. Mark and Shawn live on Squall Lake in Linden and we had a blast. Mark and Jimmy played lots of games of pool while Shawn and I prepared dinner. Later, I jumped on the trampoline. Yes, I said I jumped on the trampoline! Together we played lots and lots of badminton. Thanks for the fun you guys!

Harley even got in on the action. She did a lot of swimming and had fun playing ball.

Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend was pretty low key this year and very laid back. On Sunday, we, together with our friends Mike and Robin, went on a short motorcycle trip to West Branch to visit the parents. It was a very relaxing ride and it was a beautiful day.
